Helen

Helen was stolen from the gallery in July 2021. If you're interested is having a custom shade of a similar style let me know.

The name "Helen" means "shining light, bright one!" The design for this shade was inspired by a dear aunt ... my Aunt Helen was a lady! She was gracious, happy, warm, courageous and creative.

The shade was constructed of layered silks, lace and crystal beading. Her rose colors are beautiful during the day and really glow when the light is turned on. I love how the art nouveau pattern took shape as I worked, how the single, oversized glass bead for her pull chained "mysteriously" appeared in my bead drawer, and how the perfect ball of glass for the pole was discovered at my favorite vintage lighting shop. Sometimes I know exactly how a shade will evolve and sometimes, as with Helen, I just have to follow her lead and be surprised!

Helen was paired with a vintage bridge lamp from the early 1900. The lamp had been refurbished, rewired and tinted to compliment the shade.

The list price was $2300 and included the lampshade and lamp.
