Esmeralda, like a fairy in the Emerald City of OZ, is both bold and delicate, silky and textured, reminding me of seafoam and forest ferns.
She was difficult and illusive to conceptualize and construct ... I wonder if the mothers of fluttering baby fairies have this much trouble! With each project, I have to endure hours of trial and error till I finally throw my hands up in the air and just keep taking the stitches until at last, the magic happens and lights come on! Birth of Esmeralda took more than a month!
Esmeralda is constructed with dupion silk over an underlayer of gold embossed, seafoam Kona cotton. The seafoam is smocked and beaded to give it texture and interest on the edges and three side panels. The front panel is embellished with an art nouveau style, glass Czech button that glows when back lit. The fringe is hand beaded with aquamarine, 2" bugle beads and crystals.
The lamp base is a rewired, brass lamp with an art nouveau patterned base and inset of green jadeite in its stem. She stands 22" high and will be a lovely piece of functional art in any room of your home or office!
The list price is $1700 and is for the lampshade and lamp.
