Thelma, my latest craftsman style lampshade, was designed as a stand alone piece of artful lighting or as an addition to the home of an art nouveau enthusiast living in a San Francisco painted lady. Her name sake, my Aunt Thelma, lived in the Bay Area with my Uncle Lennard in the 1950s. Their turn of the century home was always comfortably welcoming (Aunt Thelma was a great cook!) though Uncle Lennard's 25 chiming clocks frequently interrupted conversations.
Materials in "Thelma" feature remnants of a gentleman's silk tie, rich brown and teal silk fabrics, and silk ribbon work with a Czechoslovakian glass window at its center.
