Carmel

Luminosity was one of the guiding principles in the design and construction of this lovely shade. Her glow is the result of several layers of silk with space between them that collects and reflects light through pastel silks.

Carmel is embellished with silk ribbon work, puffed organza leaves, and crushed velvet trimmings. Finally, three inch silky fringe was carefully dyed to match.

SOLD! The list price was $1600..

Lucille is eccentric - just like her namesake, one of my favorite aunts!

Lucille's vibrant design is composed of silk embroidered flowers, leaves, and buds from an Oriental vintage silk piano scarf. Trapunto work and a dual layer of textured purple silk with old fashioned fuchsia netting give her depth. Tiny amber beads adorn her trim and strands of purple glass beads were looped as a finishing touch.

I love the complementing colors and sense of playfulness she brings to the room!

The metal lamp has been tinted to compliment the shade. The price is for both shade and lamp.

Lucille has sold.

Helen

Helen was stolen from the gallery in July 2021. If you're interested is having a custom shade of a similar style let me know.

The name "Helen" means "shining light, bright one!" The design for this shade was inspired by a dear aunt ... my Aunt Helen was a lady! She was gracious, happy, warm, courageous and creative.

The shade was constructed of layered silks, lace and crystal beading. Her rose colors are beautiful during the day and really glow when the light is turned on. I love how the art nouveau pattern took shape as I worked, how the single, oversized glass bead for her pull chained "mysteriously" appeared in my bead drawer, and how the perfect ball of glass for the pole was discovered at my favorite vintage lighting shop. Sometimes I know exactly how a shade will evolve and sometimes, as with Helen, I just have to follow her lead and be surprised!

Helen was paired with a vintage bridge lamp from the early 1900. The lamp had been refurbished, rewired and tinted to compliment the shade.

The list price was $2300 and included the lampshade and lamp.

Ruby Slippers

Ruby Slippers, like every piece of art, has a story and challenges the artist along the way. With Ruby, I kept asking her what she wanted ... More lace? More bling? Are you sure?

I was afraid she was becoming too eccentric and bordello in character. As I worked with her, it became clear that she was wholesome, romantic, warm, and inviting. She began to feel like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentines Day all wrapped into one.

The frame is constructed of three sets of petals which allow the light to illuminate her details, the gorgeous lamp base, and your chosen table.

Ruby Slippers is embellished with a red glass Czechoslovakian window, eighteen hand-beaded tassels, and vintage bugle beads.

Playing with silks, beads and lace is so inspiring, I know you'll enjoy her as much as I do ... Just click your heals together and you are home!

The list price is $2,900 and is for the lampshade and lamp.

Christina

A magical combination of silks in teal and purple, are set aglow in "Christina," a unique, hand-crafted, Not-so-Victorian lampshade. Inspired by the cloisonné jewels suspended from her center, the delicate details reflect elegance and style. Light shines through antique green button insets and fringe of sparkling crystals and opalescent glass. Vintage lace at her brim and edging are embellished with gold beads. Christina is paired with a lamp of the art nouveau period, typical of the early 1900's. She's named after one of the little girls who sat at the feet of 'Abdu'l-Bahá when he visited America in 1912.

The list price is $2,900 and is for the lampshade and lamp.

Ayla Rose: Hand beaded, red and black lace lampshade and vintage lamp

Finished and ready for a new home!

"Ayla Rose" is on display at the Red Trillium Gallery in Troutdale, OR. She is a one of a kind, hand-stitched and hand-beaded, lace lampshade paired with a unique vantage lamp. The focal points in the six "windows" feature blood red pieces of Czech glass.

The lamp is very unusual too. I designed the shade so you can see the scrolled harp that supports the shade. The lamp has been rewired and hand painted to compliment the shade. I've really enjoyed watching this creation come to completion!

The list price is $1,500 and is for the lampshade and lamp.
